Lord Mayor Of Brisbane Claps Back At US Rapper For Cancelling Show
Lord Mayor of Brisbane Adrian Schrinner clapped back at US rapper Azealia Banks after she cancelled her gig in Brisbane and called the city 鈥渞acist鈥 and that Australia makes her 鈥渦tterly miserable.鈥
Banks was set to perform in Brisbane at The Tivoli on Tuesday but backed out at the last minute and took to Instagram to insult the city.
In a video on Instagram, Banks explained that she refused to perform in the city due to a concertgoer throwing a bottle at her on stage previously.
The incident had left Banks describing Brisbane as 鈥渢he most racist f*ing demoralizing experience,鈥 of her life and that she was 鈥渢oo black and beautiful to have a bunch of white people in my face playing with me over their weak ass currency.鈥
“I鈥檓 so sorry you guys 鈥 actually I鈥檓 not sorry 鈥 but listen last time I was in Brisbane and y鈥檃ll threw shit on the stage and damn near almost fucking hit me in the face with a fucking bottle of soda or whatever that shit was,鈥 she said in a video.

鈥淭hat was the most racist, most demoralising experience of my fucking life and right now I鈥檓 on a really good track. Brisbane, y鈥檃ll are just going to have to take the L and smoke it.”
With much confusion on Tuesday on the status of the concert, the promoter and venue later confirmed 鈥渨ith great sadness鈥 that the Brisbane show was officially cancelled. Those who had purchased tickets were told that they鈥檇 be issued refunds.
Selfish Snub
It was two days after that the Lord Mayor of Brisbane spoke his two cents on the issue in an Instagram Story, encouraging residents to buy tickets to local acts instead after the 鈥渟elfish snub鈥 from Banks.
鈥淎 few stupid ratbags in a mosh pit aren鈥檛 representative of our proud multicultural city, where around 1 in 3 residents were born overseas,鈥 Cr Shrinner wrote on Instagram.
鈥淚 encourage anyone who has been let down by Azealia鈥檚 selfish snub to instead support some of Brisbane鈥檚 incredible local acts.鈥
Fans Unimpressed
Fans online have expressed their disappointment with Banks鈥檚 decision to cancel her Brisbane show, with some asking why return to Australia if she hated it so much.
鈥淭ell us all again why [you] came back if [you] hate Australia so much for something that happened years ago? And please explain how throwing a bottle is racist?鈥 one user commented on Banks鈥檚 Instagram.
Others stated that Aussies didn鈥檛 like her music and that was the reason the bottle had been thrown in the first place.
鈥淧eople were throwing stuff cause your music鈥檚 sh*t and they wanted you off stage,鈥 one wrote.
鈥淣o racism down under, just people who don鈥檛 like sh*t music,鈥 another said.
