Gold Coast shines for Gay Day
Gold Coast Gay Day takes over the Parklands Showgrounds in Southport this Saturday, May 12, with one of its biggest line-ups of performers and hosts in the event’s history.
LGBT icon and showgirl Carlotta will officially open the day party before Gold Coast drag star Trixie O Nassis and Martini Ice take over hosting duties for the afternoon.
Headliners Zoe Badwi and Emily Williams (pictured) will be joined by Brisbane band the Dream Poppies, Shiny Shiny, Adrenalin Australia, Love Like Hate, Julia Rose and Felicity Lawless across two stages.
DJs Sammy, LX, RJ Simms and Jake will provide tunes.
Gay Day’s Hot Bodz competition will also return with some influence from the Rip & Roll campaign.
The Studio 44 Artspace team will invite partygoers to join them at the ‘Church of Free Love’, a space that will deliver Australian talent through live music, artwork, food and open-mindedness.
Studio 44 Artspace is dedicated to bridging divides, freedom of expression, and promoting arts and creativity.
Gold Coast Gay Day is a fundraiser for Care for Life suicide prevention on the Gold Coast and the Healthy Communities Fund. A percentage of the door takings will be donated to each of the charities.
Gold Coast Gay Day kicks off at 11am. Tickets are $15 on the gate and children under 12 enter free.
The event is fully licensed — no BYO or pets due to parks policy.
