GLBN celebrates 2012 success
The Brisbane Gay and Lesbian Business Network (GLBN) celebrated a successful year in growth and popularity earlier this month at a sold out Christmas party. Held at the Manhattan Club in Fortitude Valley, the GLBN hosted over 90 members and guests, indicative of a marked improvement in membership for the network since last year.
During the Christmas party, GLBN president Tyrone Shandiman (pictured) commented on the incredible success of the network, not just in the considerable growth in the amount of business being conducted between members but, most significantly, the stellar growth in membership.
鈥淚t has been a successful year for the GLBN taking membership from 10 to now 115 financial members, being in the best financial position ever, working more closely with other associations and hosting a range of high class events,鈥 Shandiman said,
Guest speaker Brisbane Central state MP Robert Cavallucci spoke of being very impressed with the momentum and success of the GLBN during 2012 and explained how and why he worked to organise earlier this year to support business growth within the LGBTI Brisbane market.
The committee are working over the Christmas and New Year period to plan the GLBN鈥檚 direction and goals for 2013 and the network鈥檚 indicated they already have a number of innovative and bold plans for the year.
Part of the grant has been earmarked to ensure the presence of high-profile guest speakers at some monthly meetings during the 2013 calendar.
The GLBN provides a forum for professionals and business owners that help create and foster long-lasting partnerships, ideas and education through its monthly events and networking opportunities.
The next meeting of the GLBN will be an informal and social New Year鈥檚 BBQ on Sunday, January 6 at Mowbray Park in East Brisbane from 12.30pm. RSVP to [email protected]
