Give equality this Christmas
Australian Marriage Equality (AME) have unveiled a new video encouraging people to talk about same-sex marriage around the Christmas dinner table this year.
Launched Thursday, it鈥檚 accompanied by social media skins and e-cards that encourage conversations about marriage equality at Christmas.
The video features Tasmanian Premier Lara Giddings, Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young, Professor Kerryn Phelps and Jackie Stricker Phelps, Carl Katter, WA Senator Louise Pratt, NSW Senator Cate Faehrmann, as well as newly elected independent MP and former AME national convenor Alex Greenwich.

鈥淐hristmas is a time when family and friends gather together, making it the perfect time to spread the message about the importance of marriage equality,鈥 AME national convenor Rodney Croome told the Star Observer.
鈥淲e know from experience here and overseas that attitudes to marriage equality are shaped, more than anything else, by personal one-to-one conversations.
鈥淚t doesn鈥檛 matter if you鈥檙e Tony Abbott鈥檚 sister, a church parishoner, a farmer, or a mum or dad; the more people talking about marriage equality the harder it will be for our MPs to oppose reform.鈥
Earlier this week, AME also launched a new shopping site that allows people to buy Christmas gifts that contribute directly to the marriage equality campaign.
鈥淭his Christmas we also encourage marriage equality supporters to make a gift that will help our campaign. Gifts include everything from buying social media ads and election voting guides through to sending the parents and children of same-sex couples to Canberra to lobby MPs,鈥 Croome said.
