Victoria will mark Mental Heath Week until Saturday, October 15.
The week is designed to raise awareness of mental health issues and how they can affect people in their daily lives. Seminars and exhibitions are scheduled around the state this week.
In related news, psychologists from around Australia discussed LGBTI mental health issues in Canberra last week as part of the Australian Psychological Society鈥檚 (APS) annual conference.
Researchers from universities presented papers looking at issues facing lesbian mothers, sex and gender diverse people, the impacts of HIV and experiences of shame and depression among gay men.
Two sessions dedicated to LGBTI mental health issues were held on Friday, October 7.
The APS is the largest professional association for psychologists in Australia, with more than 20,000 members.
