Witthaus heads west
Gay rights advocate and education activist Daniel Witthaus will share his strategies to challenge homophobia with Hobsons Bay residents in November.
The Victorian man travelled around Australia in 2010, spending 38 weeks on the road sharing his anti-homophobia campaign called Beyond ‘That’s so gay’.
Witthaus toured schools, organisations and even individuals throughout metropolitan and regional Australia.
He is the author of Beyond ‘That’s So Gay’: Challenging homophobia in Australian Schools, an educational resource for teachers, parents and care givers.
Witthaus also championed the successful Pride & Prejudice program, first piloted in 2002 at an all-boys Catholic School.
More than 800 schools, organisations and groups have undertaken the Pride & Prejudice program.
The free Challenging Homophobia event will be held on Wednesday, November 21 at Williamstown Library, Hobsons Bay from 6pm. It’s open to everyone but bookings are essential.
