Prisoner stars reunite for HIV awareness

The stars of classic television series Prisoner will reunite in November to raise funds for HIV awareness.

Peta Toppano (Karen Travers), Maggie Millar (Marie Winter), Margot Knight (Sharon Gilmour), Lesley Baker (Monica Ferguson), and Annie Phelan (Myra Desmond) will all be in attendance for the event with many more expected to announce their attendance in the coming months..

Former Prisoner star Glenda Linscott (pictured), who played inmate Rita Connors in the show鈥檚 final year, has utilised the program鈥檚 loyal fan base to make a short film dealing with the issue of women unknowingly infected with HIV by their partners.

A Fairytale Life, which will be screened at the November event in St Kilda, was born of Linscott鈥檚 involvement with the Positive Women organisation.

鈥淲henever Prisoner fans get together, they raise money for the charity Positive Women, which helps women and families living with HIV,鈥 Linscott told the Star Observer in April.

鈥淏ecause it is such a fantastic piece of film, it鈥檚 transformed from simply being a film we could offer at places like Family Planning. We鈥檙e now going to enter it in film festivals in seven places around the world where HIV is on the increase.鈥
