IDAHOT screening of Carol to raise funds
A VERY special screening of the Oscar nominated film Carol will be held on IDAHOT (or IDAHOBIT) Day.
Queer Screen will host the screening of Carol, which was and stars Australia’s Cate Blanchett, to raise funds for Twenty 10 incorporating GLCS NSW and Inner City Legal Centre, to help them continue with all their great work.
IDAHOT is the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, Biphobia and Intersexphobia on May 17 and aims to draw people’s attention to the discrimination still faced by LGBTI people.
Carol was nominated for six Oscars and聽is based on Patricia Highsmith鈥檚 ground聽breaking novel聽The Price of Salt聽about the burgeoning relationship between two very different women in 1950s New York. One, Therese (Rooney Mara), a girl in her 20s working in a department store who dreams of a more fulfilling life, and the other Carol (Blanchett), a wife trapped in a loveless marriage who is desperate to break free.
See the exquisitely shot and beautifully performed film聽for the first time, or the umpteenth time, with Sydney’s LGBTI community as Queer Screen raise awareness and funds in the fight against homophobia.
